Did you follow Singapore’s Presidential Election results live on YouTube? Well, you might be one of the hundreds of thousands who tuned in to CNA’s Polling Day results special on the platform.
The livestream ranked number two on the list of Singapore’s top trending videos on YouTube for 2023 – second to Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show.
As of Dec 14, the Polling Day results special has garnered over 733,000 views on YouTube. The livestream which ran close to four hours, showcased CNA’s in-depth coverage of the three presidential candidates, expert analysis, as well as live reactions on the ground before and after the results.
It is also the only livestream that made it to YouTube’s list of top trending videos in Singapore. The rest of the list comprised videos by both local and international creators such as Naomi Neo and MrBeast.
Google – YouTube’s parent company – also revealed its Year in Search 2023 lists. These lists of trending searches highlight the topics, people, events and locations that piqued Singaporeans’ interest.
Former and current Singapore politicians Tan Chuan-Jin, Nicole Seah and S Iswaran took up three spots in the top 10 Trending Singapore News searches.
But it was “Ticketmaster” that came out tops as a search term. The ticketing agent dominated the news when fans in Singapore faced issues getting concert tickets for Taylor Swift’s shows.

Singaporeans were also interested in CDC vouchers, with “How to claim CDC Vouchers 2023” topping the list of Google’s Trending How-tos. If you’re one of them, here’s a reminder to use up your vouchers by the end of the year, or donate them to charity.
As for international news, the Israel-Hamas war received the highest search interest in Singapore, followed by the murder case of Hong Kong socialite Abby Choi.
